glue - your wife is right :-)....
That's what I was telling myself after the show.
(as the Blurry Blue Mountain-tracklist on the fire records site reveals not even Thin Line Man was sneak into GiantHistory)

Oh god i just typed this poet / suet ramble for love marridge and all the colours inbetween and i timed out, probably for the best....

I am guilty of being in love with some dusty old discs that ment a lot to me when not much else did or does.

The nod to Chesnutt almost broke me in a joyness and sadful way avoid for time.

Those final few minuets did it, nailed me back, soothed the burn, I wondered if you looked slightly nervous, throwing so much back for youths hands to care, It was joyful.

So I am stuck, hurting at missed chances (+ not being called on to save the set Back to the future style) I brought my own plectrum.....

Guiltiy of dreams and dreaming, of wanting what I knew would / could / should never be. Guilty of wanting my classic rock moment. Guilty of almost becoming 30 (This Sat) and not having finished reading the questions let alone thought out an answer

all this with a half a bottle of tequila... and then typing.

So as I ponder the improable the factual and the slither of life that spans the gap..I know it was good a look ahead, fresh blood into the worms vein, but i am still confused...

..... then my wife reminds me - as all good custodians do - I thought thats why you like him? it is and I do.

So I went, arrived and was escorted (christ my empty drink is in that video). I saw you all those that are and should be comenting sat amoungst the throws. Lets be honest ( I Know thats hard when magnifying the product but) 1) lovely as a Howe and friends night was it was not a 25 years celebration 2)much as I loved different bits and bobs having the Barbicain for a 'here are my mates evening' at such expesnse with such false advertising was cruel. 3) i feel confident in my comment as so many people were shakey and unshure by the time it all came about. 4) I have no problem with not looking back but why pretend it to start? I felt cheated but loyaley so .... no comment its all goo and paste..... why say it if you never meant to play it?

I had Official Bootleg Series Vol. 1 in rotation just this past week. Great album. I dig how all the instrumentals and segues kind of blur together, occasionally surfacing into a proper song. And speaking of, what are your thoughts on "Mason Card?" Is that one of many evolving versions of "Punishing Sun?" I like it.

Then again the Columbus, Chicago and Minneapolis dates are either not listed by said venues, or appear to conflict with other scheduled shows, so I guess I'll curb my excitation. Sure hope there's an October 23rd Chicago date somewhere though, or come to Grand Rapids, then I don't have to drive 3 hours each way.

Oops, sorry to be such a grump. I'll be at Lincoln Hall--great venue. Alan and I caught the Bob Log III/Pork Torta cavalcade in East Lansing last night. Bob's jam from the women's bathroom was priceless

Yes, I concur about the double-7-inch. Beautiful job! Fast delivery! Cheap! Only one problem: The paper sleeves of the discs don't slip back into their slips very easily :)

@ Shaun & 7" of 'sno: Indeed that's a very nice double single, i just pulled from the mailbox. I like that old fashion style of the labels. Smooth paypal transaction too. Just ordered another one, 'cusse it's a great gift for a vinyl lover. Thx for that lovely idea!

Got the Sno Angel dbl 7" package yesterday. Looks great (with well-cut packaging and print-job) and sounds good too. Nice to finally have a Howe solo release across some grooved plastic... well done Shaun and co. More soon please! ;-)

here is a question for you sandheads. What is your favourite album between Is all the over the map and Provisions.

I prefer Is all over at the moment. it has a wild giant sand flavour to it

thanks for that review of the barbican set. the giant sand set sounds very similar to the winchester one. i must admit i was dissapointed that they played hardly any old material. thin line man must have been great though.

i agree with the new member, he is a wecolme and good addtion.

Short review of the Barbican celebration yesterday: the evening started with Kristin Hersh solo, followed by a Giant Sand set, during which pictures from the last 25 years of Howeadventures were projected on both sides of the stage. The GS-set itself was anything but retrospective: started with Stranded Pearl and ended with Increment, in between only new or (yet) unreleased songs plus Vic's Expiration Day.
After the break came a book reading by the brave Kristin Hersh, touching, sad, funny. Accompanied by GS, ended with three Kristin Songs backed by Howe&the boys. Then came an all-too short set by Howe and the gypsies, seated in a half-circle. The evening ended with a version of Wayfaring Stranger by everybody, Howe & Kristin sharing the vocals. A short two-song encore then, which for me was the absolute highlight of the show: a wild rocking version of Thin Line Man (one of my all time favorites) and a sweet and tender "The Last Time" (new Howe song, not the Stones number).
Great surprise for me was to watch new member Nicolai Heyman who played great stuff on guitar and organ and who was really into the music. Hope he stays with the band.

missed the barbican show. can anyone provide a set list for giant sand?

Another great Barbican evening from Howe and his assorted cohorts, and how good was Kristen Hersh.
