IanG, just tried to get the show and it changes every 7 days so no go, but now a helpful chap has filled the gap! Count me in if you would? Nice to see those videos, wish london had been a standing show... Realplayer is sometimes a necessary evil so when installing I'm told it's best to uncheck every box and not just click yes to the defaults. It gave me a feck of a lot of hassle for ages. 43, lies, damn lies

Karlos, excellent video, thanks. Now how(e) do we get to download these?

Oke
(bbc radio 2) ian, i have the 3 songs and the interview. Really great, so I start a weed now: I'll send 1 copy overseas, 1 to europe, 1 to germany and 1 to ian ... and please "reweed". email: simons(at)foni(dot)net.

Thank you for all your helpfullness. Sadly in my attempts to get hold of these tines I had to download the accursed Realplayer in order to get them fr4om the BBC. It might just be me but installing Realplayer is a bit like searching out the nastiest virus and installing it on purpose. Nothing much makes a Mac crash but Realplayer does the job(I remember it causing havoc in my PC days too)
If anyone has the 3 songs and wants a wee trade......

just found a few Howe/Voices Of praise tracks from a BBC session I have not noticed mention of here yet. I can get real player to play them but how do I actually get to keep them? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/radcliffe/playlist_monday.shtml

... still listening to dublab.com
pretty cool as well-
never forget that Blixa Bargeld "silence is sexy"-
Sunday mood that is.

It was indeed one of the best shows in a while, having said that I have been lucky recently, the last few bands I have seen have been great. Julian Cope was brilliant at the QMU a few weeks back, so good I might go and see him again on Saturday. Green On Red were outstanding at the Astoria, so good I am going to see them in July.

IanG, yeah, no smoking rules. I managed to last the whole gig without popping out for one! Gelb better than nicotine patches. You're right, the gig was great, everone i've talked to says it was about the best they've seen for some time. For me the best since Nick Cave back at the Carling. Cave had "gospel" type singers too, hmmm! Something in the water?

Saw Howe in Brighton last night, it was a great show as usual. Unfortunately the crowd seemed a bit unresponsive, probably because it was a festival event. The music was fantastic and the choir unbelievable.

buxfix - chansons d'amour
well, saw that lordi did it and was wondering about a festival for chansons...
now I ask myself wouldn't it be a great project to form a band with maskes from bush, chaney, rice and rumpsfeld performing "bombs over bagdad" from outkast.
Must be a hit - and if you like to do it, howe - at the next eurovision song contest you might be able to start for denmark ;-)

SS#9 might be finished the next weeks...

Just forget it, forget all the hmmmm.. inconvenient rules and regulations at the dome. Wasn't it a great show- unfortunately I was seated at the circle and was pretty jalous for everybody being able to pay the price for the front rows..I would have stand up from the beginning to look for those lost lenses.
Great evening and the gales from the seafront added the icing on the cake......

Lordi won . I haven't watched the Eurovision song contest since a child in the 70's . What a bizzare event .Wogan's mildly zenophobic commentary just about makes it watchable . Lordi ...

Thanks for spelling that out Paul. I saw the guy in the wheelchair too, a better position could have been found for him, it wasn't him I was referring to by the way. The guy getting on my nerves was having a moan and said 'I am oan the disability, you know' to me. Whatever terrible affliction he suffered from did not prevent him going to the bar/toilets every 10 minutes and annoying everyone else.
But these are the kind of irritations I expect to encounter nowadays, not to mention the 'no smoking' rules. Nothing could have spoiled a fantastic show from Howe and the Choir so I am not saying anything else negative.

Hi ian and J, the term is greetin' I think. Anyway there seemed to be a lot of that going on. Pretty stupid of the venue to have seats and then let folk stand in front of them. I don't think they anticipated the size of the crowd,. Another guy who was there spoke to the promoter , Billy Kelly, who said he was surprised by the numbers. I saw a guy in a wheelchair who was placed at a table which then was surrounded by others standing. Probably frustrating for those who arrived early to get a seat and then couldn't see. I was cursing myself for not getting there sharp to get a table at the front. All standing is better, lets the feet go wandering.

IanG - I thouroughly enjoyed the show too, but " greeting faced numpties in the audience who objected to us enjoying ourselves " Disprupted it slightly. Greeting is scottyish for crying btw, particularly when done by bairns. Feck, it's only our lives. Why should we enjoy them... Always 14 now, am I eternal chidhood docker?

awesome manchester show - best Howe incarnation yet in my opinion, eclipsing even the legendary pantheon night at the Barbican 2001, for me and other folks around, for pure sustained grinning-from-ear-to-ear-joy. choir = the perfect light to howe's dark, everyone working to the same heavenly hymn sheet. I'm not a believer, but Oh Happy Day...you nearly had me there for a minute...

I guess it's the hat trick where Howe flicks his hat in the air with his foot and it lands, sometimes, on his head. It didn't in Glasgow, close mind you......

WFMU... Alan mentioned that radio earlier. Sounds like a cool place. And as we speak our sand friend and Fandango-contributor (sound and cover) Zelda Panda is in the Big Apple and will be appearing on Charlie's Show there on Monday at 9.00-12.00. Playing live and spinning records, I suspect. You can read about it here: http://www.wfmu.org/upcoming . They described her Marzipan Marzipan sound rather amusing: "Comes on like a solo coffee house Stereo Total." I like that, he-he. :-)

She will be playing at the Cakeshop, which I noticed that Marianne Dissard will also play with Naim Amor later in June.
The MM gig is on may 26 and the following day she'll play at Barbes in Brooklyn.

If you're in the neighbourhood go see a fellow sandie performing for the first time in the US.

Now I'm off for Barcelona for five days. Workrelated, but I'm not complaining. ;-)

Have a nice weekend, folks!

Lars

Just got back from the Manchester gig and it exceeded all expectations. The choir were amazing and I'm looking forward to listening to their cd very much. Too many highlights this evening to mention but My Sweet Lord got my arms in the air and no mistaking. The whole thing was like watching diamonds busting out of rocks. Howe's hat-trick of hat tricks was pretty impressive too - nicely done sir!

What can I say? What a show! Dirty From The Rain and Astonished were highlights for me but it was a pretty faultless show notwithstanding a couple of greeting faced numpties in the audience who objected to us enjoying ourselves (You know who you are Mr Disability benefit man, don't hurry back).
I nearly got to say 'Hi' to Paul K but he was gone before I got the chance. Next time we will get a beer.
I hope someone has managed to get some of this tour recorded, my email address is below if you have,
Thanks Howe for making the effort to come all the way up here, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

thank you so much for your lines. trite but true: "Forget the fact that you do not feel comfortable in letting yourself go. Just do it. Close your eyes and experience the deliverance of such a sonic wave and then open em wide face down into the waters that shimmer that choral." i'd love to experience your set with the voice of praise - but unfortunately no gigs near enough my place. any idea how long you shall tour with said angels? any chance you might be somewhere in austria or near austria with them? cheers antonio
